An unmanned Delta rocket carrying a 45 million dollar military satellite was about to blast off but just seconds into the mission, the rockets exploded and burning debris rained down from the sky. The area around the launch pad was likened to a war zone and the cause of the explosion was later found to be a 17 foot crack in one of the rocket boosters.
