I'd love to see how the more automated factories do it? I'm sure Nikon and Canon have robots, but their pro stuff is every bit as good as the pro stuff that Zeiss make - they just do it in greater volume. It is a video of a very small production run of a professional TV camera lens. DSLR lenses, such as the ones that come with DSLR cameras, are produced on fully-automated assembly lines. You can't have a skilled technician fuss for a long time over the manufacture of a $50 lens. And instead of machined metal and ground optical glass, think injected moulded plastic. It is not a video of a DSLR lens being made. It is a video of a very small production run of a professional TV camera lens.
