(Though I am not so sure that removing the tape would be entirely pain-free, though no, it would definitely not pull all of it's hair out... but maybe a little bit of hair). It's not nice more for psychological / emotional reasons. I am familiar enough with cats to know when they are in physical pain, and this cat was not in physical pain, but it was very confused, and trying to get away from what was touching it. It's not nice to do this to a cat for the same reason it's not nice to put a cat in a funny outfit and laugh at him / her. It's just confusing, irritating and humiliating for the cat!
